My Driving Lesson Methods
Everyone's ways of learning differ, which is why I tailor my driving instruction to every individuals needs. To do this I use a variety of different methods, teaching everything that is involved with driving, including theory. Most of all, I pride myself on teaching you to drive for life, not just pass the test, then learn the rest (the hard way)!
I draw on a variety of resources and materials and keep both myself and you up to date on changes to the theory, hazard perception and practical tests so that, should you have any queries or concerns I can answer knowledgeably. Many of these materials have been designed and produced by myself, compiling many years of experience and knowledge into written resources that are user friendly and easy to understand.
I have a range of guidance and information documents that are given to my pupils covering a variety of subjects including:
- Driving conditions (snow, ice, flooding, wind, fog etc).
- Information regarding approaching emergency vehicles.
- Eco-driving.
- Show me/Tell me (questions for practical exam).
- Advice for theory and hazard perception.
- How to book your theory and practical exams.
- Progress reports, so you can see how you're improving.
Some pupils learn best via demonstration, then on their own while guided. Others learn better through doing a guided exercise first (the pupil doing the manouvere whilst being talked through it)........
What matters most is that you are taught the way you learn!
If you find there is something you don't understand or just aren't quite getting the hang of, ask and ask again until you do. If you feel you're not getting anywhere, talk to the instructor. You may feel that you are there solely to listen to the instructor and that your thoughts and worries don't matter; this is not the case. Your opinion matters; you both form a team. Relationships work best when everyone is open and honest.
I am happy to advise on materials for revision of the theory and hazard perception tests. There are some that I particularly recommend, so please discuss this with me before purchasing!
The resources I recommend using are also available for loan/purchase from myself*
