The Institute of Advanced Motorists, or IAM, is a charity working toward reducing the numbers of collisions on our roads by raising driving and riding standards (reg. Charity number 249002).The IAM was formed in 1956 and is the UK's leading Road Safety organisation with more that 112 000 members.

Any one who has passed their IAM Advanced Driving or Motorcycling test automatically join the IAM as an 'elected member'. People who purchase the Skills for Life package are considered IAM associate members, if they go on to pass their test within that year, they have their membership upgraded for the remainder of the year at no extra cost.
There are many benefits to passing your advanced test. As well as they increased knowledge, safety awareness and additional insight (or should that read fore-sight?) you will have, there are also benefits such as discounts on breakdown cover, insurance and hotels, to name but a few!
The advanced driving test lasts approximately 90 minutes, depending on traffic. During which time you will need to demonstrate your driving in many different situations; from motorways to country roads and town driving, from the three point turn, to the parallel park. You will usually cover about 30-miles on your test. Your examiner will oversee you carrying out all of advanced driving techniques which you will have been learning and fine tuning with me.
The test requires you to plan ahead, so as to give a smooth, fluent, safe drive.
Becoming an advanced motorist is well within every driver's reach with the correct tuition.
